New Care Farm Docent Program Launches

We’re launching a new Care Farm Docent program this year!

We’re looking for volunteers to join our docent cadre to lead public tours during tour season (April – Oct.). Docents will share the history and the mission of the care farm and encourage visitors to engage with the animals, wildlife, gardens, and learn about volunteer opportunities.

We hope our docents will help promote a deeper understanding and appreciation for what we do at Sanctuary One, and to ensure that the care farm visitors have amazing experiences while here. Docents will be key to helping raise public awareness of the unique partnerships between Sanctuary One and our community partners too. You can read the full volunteer Sanctuary One Care Farm Docent Volunteer Job Description.

Time commitment:  Minimum of 1 tour per month. Tours are 10:30 – 12:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, a minimum 6-month commitment

Job Duration:  Last weekend in April – last weekend in October

Location:  Sanctuary One Care Farm – 13195 Upper Applegate Road   Jacksonville, OR 97530

Well it’s the beginning of May already and we are pleased with the development of the various veggies we have been growing from seed! Tomatoes and tomatillos are being potted up to encourage strong, deep roots once it’s time for outdoor planting; our onions, beets and carrots are establishing their roots in the soil; and as of this week, and our arugula, mustard greens and radishes are ready for their first harvest and donation to ACCESS! ACCESS is a Community Action Agency in Medford that provides food to more than 30 emergency food pantries throughout Jackson County. We are so excited to be partnering with them to provide healthy, flavorful food grown without the use of harmful chemicals. (We partner with the worms too!) ... See MoreSee Less

"Hey there, it's your boy Rocky! If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and all-around good boy, look no further! I'm a young male dog with lots of love to give. I am friendly, affectionate, and gentle, and I love giving kisses! I am also protective and curious, so I will always keep you safe and entertained.Although I am a bit dignified, I love making new friends and getting belly rubs. I am independent and love to explore, but I will always be by your side. I'm also smart and playful, so we can have lots of fun together. I'm great with other dogs, and I'm sure I'd get along with your pups too!So, if you're looking for a furry friend who's got all the best traits, come meet me and let's have some fun! We'll be best friends in no time."Here is the link to the Adoption Application: sanctuaryone.org/rescue-animals/adopt-us/adoption-application/ ... See MoreSee Less
