Board Spotlight: Lynae Williams

Nonprofits function best when many hands come together, from different walks of life, to fulfill the nonprofit’s mission and vision. Sanctuary One is proud of its fantastic board of directors who offer their unique skills and personalities to growing and sustaining the care farm’s important work. We’d like to highlight one of our newest board members, Lynae Williams!

Born in Cave Junction, she has spent most of her life right here in the valley she grew up in. Lynae is passionate about sustainable living and animal welfare. It took just one visit to the care farm for her to know she wanted to get involved:

I was so thoroughly impressed with the vision and the positive impact it has and can continue to have on our community…I am in awe of the impact Sanctuary One has on our collective community. In particular, the approach of finding balance in support of animals, the earth, and people enhances the impact on each individual, as well as the whole collectively. Through volunteer work, tours, and service-learning projects, individuals are able to develop deeper connections with the animals and our environment, and in doing so are able to enrich their own lives as well. It is rare to have opportunities to experience things that are truly mutually beneficial in such a way. To bear witness, to support, and experience the impact first hand is very humbling and something I am tremendously proud to be a part of. I feel extremely thankful to have the opportunity to serve an organization whose mission and values are so well-aligned with my own.

Sanctuary One is so grateful for Lynae’s passion and the skills she shares from her lifelong career in for-profit and non-profit commercial lending and finance. Thanks, Lynae, and to all of Sanctuary One’s volunteer board members, for making this work possible!

Farewell, Sweet Gumball 🤍With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved Gumball passed away on December 1. For nearly a decade, he brought warmth and joy to all who visited the farm. His gentle spirit touched countless lives and reminded us of the healing magic this place holds. Our Animal Care Director, Colleen, shared this sweet poem in Gumball’s memory:Gumball’s MeadowFor almost ten years, beneath the sun’s warm glow,You wandered these fields where the soft winds blow.A gentle soul with a heart so wide,In this quiet haven, you chose to reside.Through seasons that turned, from green to gold,Your story of peace and love was told. Each muddy patch, each shaded tree,Held whispers of joy and serenity. You taught us grace in the simplest way,To savor each moment, come what may.Though your hoofprints fade from the earthen floor,Your spirit lives on forevermore.Rest now, dear friend, where the skies are clear,For Sanctuary One will always hold you near.Rest easy, sweet boy.4/2/2016 – 12/1/2025 ... Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, we received $11,162 in online donations for #GivingTuesday! Together, we raised $22,324 (with our donor match) to support the care and wellbeing of the animals at Sanctuary One. Because of you, we’ll be able to provide winter hay, cover critical veterinary care, and ensure our animal residents stay safe, warm, and loved through the coming months. Your support helps keep our mission alive — making Sanctuary One a place of healing for people, animals, and the land we share. We’re so grateful to have you in our corner.
